The HORRORS Of Hermann Göring JJ

He was one of the most complex characters of the Third Reich and was someone who stood out for many different reasons. Herman Guring was until the final days of the Second World War the successor to the Fura and as a Reich’s marshal he was the most senior member of the German armed forces as well as a commander of the Luwaffer the German air force.

He regularly pranced around in front of the German media in flamboyant uniforms adorned with medals and decorations and his large stature led to the allies nicknaming him fat Herman. Guring was someone who could laugh at himself and he had a close friendship with Hitler. When Guring joined the Nazis, his personality and reputation preceded him as a former head of the Flying Circus during World War I following the death of the Red Baron.

But there were many dark and complex signs to Herman Guring that made him a complete monster and also one of the worst war criminals not just of the 20th century but in the whole of history. This is the horror of Herman Guring. Now he wasn’t always a monster. It was mostly inside of the Nazi party that Guring transformed into the beast he would be known for.

He spent his early life living inside of castles and did during World War I receive the poor lait the highest decoration for a German flyer. He was a fighter ace during the war and as mentioned was the last commander of the flying circus which was once led by Manfred von Richtophen the Red Baron. After the war he remained in flying and worked for a Swedish airline.

During the winter of 1920, he was hired by Count Erican Rosen to fly him to his castle. And Guring may have seen a swastika for the first time then, as it was part of Rosen’s family crest. But around this time, the count introduced his sister-in-law to Guring, a lady named Kim. Guring quickly became infatuated with her, and soon they married, and they lived inside a lavish hunting lodge in the Bavarian Alps.

Now Guring then joined the Nazi party in 1922 after witnessing one of Hitler’s speeches and a man of Guring’s reputation and celebrity bowled over Hitler and immediately Guring was given command of the brown shirts Hitler’s SA the Sturm Abtail his group of paramilitary thugs Guring was present in the failed coup to take control of Germany known as a Munich push and he was wounded after being shot in the groin by police.

He was smuggled away and had surgery. But this is when he developed his morphine addiction, a problem that would plague him for the rest of his life. Guring got hooked on painkillers and in particular morphine and a stronger medication. His wife helped to care for him, but Herman Guring repaid her with violence. There have been allegations made against Herman Gurring that he was violent towards his first wife, Karen, and that this was most probably brought about by the morphine addiction he had.

The drugs made Guring a violent man who was prone to outbursts and attacks, and Karen’s aristocratic family was shocked at who he was becoming. It got so serious that Karen had her husband locked up inside of Langro Asylum, a facility in Sweden which treated those people who were mentally ill. The sort of treatment Guring received here was incredibly serious.

One former worker of the asylum claimed that it is important to bring up the treatments used to cope with the most violent and aggressive patients. Four suits, straight jackets, swing chairs, rotating swings, windowless rooms, half food rations, and bloodletting were frequently used. Some patients at this asylum were even placed in insulin induced comas to help their recovery.

Guring being very violent even towards the staff of the asylum in one incident lashed out at one of the nurses as she had refused to give him his morphine. He was so violent at this point that he actually had to be locked inside of a straight jacket. This is something most people don’t know that the flamboyant and confident rights marshall less than a decade before the Nazis came to power was actually confined to straight jackets inside of a Swedish asylum.

Now he was weaned off the morphine but had to repeatedly return to the asylum for further treatment. So he was a violent wifebeating drug addict. Later he would become hooked on dihydrocodine which unlike his morphine was administered orally. He had injected his morphine previously but Guring would continue to take dihydrocodine until the end of the war and this led to him managing to get hold of thousands of tablets which were later confiscated by the allies when Guring was arrested at the end of World War II. But let’s delve into a number of

the terrible crimes that Herman Guring did commit. One of the organizations he established was the Gestapo, the Nazi secret police. Guring created the force in 1933 by combining different political police agencies and the oversight of this was later passed over to head of the SS Hinrich Himmler.

The Gustapo would throughout its time in operation commit huge atrocities and crimes. From arresting and torturing people, sometimes to death, to being involved in the deportations of people to concentration camps, the Gustapo became one of the most feared organizations within Germany. Ordinary citizens became terrified of Gustapo officers and that they were being watched by them.

And at the Nuremberg trials, the organization was declared a criminal organization due to its role in the Holocaust and also in the disappearances and presumed executions and deaths of enemies of the Nazis. As a commander of the Luwaffa, the German Air Force, many would have thought that with his previous experience as a pilot, Guring would have been well suited to this role, but he wasn’t necessarily fit for the command position.

He may have been a skilled aviator, but commanding bombing groups, fighter groups, and other aircraft was not his strength. At the beginning of the Second World War, Guring looked like a genius when the Germans were on the front foot. He was even made Hitler’s successor after the initial invasion of Poland, and German victory after German victory kept coming.

The Lwaffer managed to defeat the Polish air force within a week, and his paratroopers seized vital airfields in Norway. Even during the battle of France and the Netherlands, Gurling’s forces did well. He was even awarded the highest medal, the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross by Hitler and was then promoted to his infamous rank of Reichkes marshal, making him the most senior soldier in all of the military.

Now, one of the most ruthless strategies Guring deployed with the air force was the strategic bombing of Britain, which became known as the Blitz. Cities such as London were hit hard by German bombers most evenings, and he attempted to the morale of the British, but the bombing failed to do this. His forces continued to bomb, and their indiscriminate actions led to the deaths of school children who were buried inside of their schools, nurses and doctors who were struck when hospitals were hit, and many other innocent

civilians. Now Guring’s arrogant personality will later come back to bite him though at the battle of Stalingrad with the Germans on the verge of defeat he asked to try and resupply the forces from the sky and this completely failed. He also lost air superiority over occupied lands and also more importantly over Germany and this led to every night thousands of bombs from allied bombers raining down on towns and cities.

Many German people blamed Guring and they thought he had abandoned them to face their deaths. One of the worst characteristics of Herman Guring though was the fact he was one of the biggest thiefs of the 20th century and he would steal a huge amount of art and artifacts during the war. Guring would enter art galleries owned by those people being persecuted by the Nazis and would then either through armed force steal the art in the galleries or force a business owner to accept a disgustingly low offer.

In this way, he also seized a large amount of property and also collected bribes from other Nazis, allowing them to take property. This shows how corrupt he was. And his huge hunting lodge, Karenhal, was adorned with stolen and plundered artwork from many private collections and museums. He even had an organization that were tasked with stealing loot for him set up.

And it’s claimed that around 26,000 railroad box cars full of art treasures and other looted items were sent to Germany from France. Many of these being sent to Guring first so he could have the first take of the items. Now, it’s estimated in today’s money that Guring’s stolen art collection would possibly have a value of $300 million. He was also, let’s remember, one of the most complicit figures in the Holocaust, too.

Despite men such as Hinrich Kimla and Joseph Gerbles being more anti-Semitic than Gurring, he did issue legislation that caused a huge amount of suffering. He set up the head office for Jewish immigration and under the direction of Reinhard Hydrickch. This group was tasked to force Jewish people to leave Germany under any means necessary.

He also in 1941 issued a memo to Hydrickch ordering him to organize the practical details of the final solution. the policy which was to deal with the slaughter of the Jews in Europe. He was not present at the von conference which announced that the genocide of Jewish people was official Reich policy but Guring was present at other meetings in which the numbers of people being killed were spoken about throughout the war.

Guring had tried to outmuscle and outmaneuver the other Nazis into favor in the eyes of Hitler. But he was falling from grace as his luwaffa left Germany vulnerable and each bombing raid further dented his reputation. He would try to take control of the Reich believing Hitler was incapacitated and this backfired upon him.

Hitler saw this as a mark of treason and Guring was then placed under arrest and was forced to give up all his party offices and jobs and was actually threatened with being shot. At the Nuremberg trials at the end of World War II, Guring did manage to get the upper hand on the prosecution to begin with, but a huge amount of evidence showing his crimes and illegal orders was collected and then presented.

He was at the time actually suffering from heart disease and excess fat, it was written, but he had been weaned off the dihydrocodine. Guring was sentenced to death, but he would cheat the hangman by a matter of hours, taking a concealed Sinai capsule hours before he was due to go through the gallows. So, let’s sum up what sort of a person Herman Guring was.

He was a corrupt, drug-addicted, violent beast who had for a number of years before he came into power been locked up inside of a straight jacket in an asylum. He became incredibly powerful during the Third Reich’s time in power, but he was a terrible man and someone who became one of the worst thiefs of the 20th century. Thanks for watching.
