And in our planning meeting this morning as we were talking about well i was on the video call and you were in the studio. So two different perspectives of the event. So from my perspective we’re chatting away about some horror movies.
we’re having a fun time and all of a sudden on the camera i just see you and our producers just jump up from the table and then our producer manisha just fall to the floor and i thought like a murderer had broken into the room. >> it was a moth. >> it was a one little moth. >> it was big. It was a big moth. >> oh my god.
mom, i’m not going to hurt you. >> it was just for a 8:50 a.m. Meeting. It’s just not the energy i needed. >> you all just left the room and i’m on the camera. >> we fully left the room cuz we were so scared of the moth and left lb on camera screen. I’m like, does did someone die? What happened? >> imagine if the moth’s face just came up and oh my god, that be so scary.
>> like a serial killer movie. And because we were talking about like something where we’re both about to go to a very scary event and we were talking and i was already like in my like scared. >> you were already ready to be scared and a moth just appears out of nowhere. >> i thought our producer manisha had died.
She hit the floor so fast. >> yeah, you did. >> off now. Is it in the room with us and >> it left the meeting room? Firstly, everyone in the office just turned to look at us cuz we were just screaming and came out and then the moth like flew away and then everyone was just like, “oh, that was such a waste of our time.
” >> you know what it was? Do you know which celebrity is deadly afraid of moths that she would have absolutely passed away if she was in that room? >> nicole kippen. >> really? >> nicole kimman is petrified of moths. She brings it up all the time in interviews. >> oh, it’s fair. Yeah, >> cuz you know when you hit them, they become like buttery.

so, today um gwennneth paltro, that’s all i’ll just say. Emily has beef. She was messaging me last night with basically you want to take a hit out in the whole paltro martin family. >> yeah, i’ll take them all down. >> yeah. So, we’re going to chat about that. Plus, lily allen has given an interview um leading up to the release of her new album about being single.
You’ve got some thoughts on that. We have to dive into what happened with her relationship because it is so very intense. But first, this morning we woke up >> to a beautiful gift. >> uh yes. >> some might call it a gift. >> oh, i thought it was a gift. I was so excited. I bounced out of bed like it was christmas morning, which is so fitting cuz this is the show i saved to watch on christmas day.
>> longtime listeners know exactly what you’re talking about. >> exactly. The new trailer for emily in paris for the new season came out today >> in a rome. Well, that is the shocking. So, my sister and i always watch emily in paris together and we try and save it. It’s it’s a whole thing from how like we watch the screeners for the first time, not knowing what the show was and we were like in lockdown together and it was just the most beautiful night we ever had.
and so, ever since then, we save it to watch together. Usually, >> the first time i loved my sister. >> yes. The first time we bonded. No, we are way too bonded. We need to spend less time together. And now we save it to watch on christmas night together when everyone else has gone to bed. But at the end of last season, fans of emily in paris, the real ones, will know that it ended with her going because she was moving to rome for work.
>> we had a bit of a call back >> going into her insta account and like deleting the emily in paris and putting emily in rome and then the screen cut to black and i was like, what a masterpiece of like a cinematic cliffhanger ending. Except >> yeah, >> if you’ve worked in social media, >> you know, changing a handle on a verified instagram account is very hard to do.

>> no, no, no, no. So, they all ended the and can i just tell you one of my biggest pet peeves, there’s a few of them. People who talk in movies, people that think loving true crime is a quirky personality trait, and people that don’t understand emily and paris. The plot is so simple.
at the end of last season, the whole like the main players, sylvie, luke, are all in rome. >> and are they just staying in rome for >> they’re not all staying there. Emily is staying to run the rome office for agent, which is sylv’s agency that they all work for. And i guess the rest of them are there because they’re working on that big campaign for that huge client, marello’s family.
and so i’m thinking that a lot of them will be in rome setting up the new office and working on the campaign. But the idea is that emily is the only one who works there permanently. >> what about that is hard to understand. >> and then where’s mindy? So, mindy, remember how she got a job um hosting being a judge on chinese pop idol and that was the show that she ran away to paris to escape because she had been on the show as a singer as a contestant and she had hit a really bad note and gone viral. And then after she was and her
Band were kicked out of eurovision, she went to meet emily in rome so they could get the whole gang there and she went viral for singing her new song beautiful ruins in the middle of rome and that’s why they got >> all in rome. >> yes. >> okay. >> yeah. I don’t understand what about that is hard to understand.
>> no, it’s fine. I just think logistically like quite expensive plane tickets. >> yeah. Not no. No. In europe they’ll be going back and forth. >> you know how like rome to paris is a 2-hour flight >> which is like the same amount of time it is from sydney to adelaide >> and yet we’re in the same country. >> no, i know.
>> like we really don’t have a good here. >> no, i know. >> like i want to travel i want to go to rome and i wanted to take a 2-hour flight. >> i know. That’s the beauty of being europe, isn’t it? Because she and marello um after having that bump about him thinking that she was just trying to get to him for his family business and now she’s moved to rome and they’re going to be together. But also gabrielle, that old stick in the mud. We should get out of here.
um >> is he still in paris? >> he was traveling to he was going to go to rome to get win emily back. So they all getting all this money. >> he wants her back now. What’s a 2-hour flight? I’m sure you can get you can get like super cheap tickets. It’s fine. And then alfie is back in the mix this season. >> immigration getting all these people and them explaining why they’re there.

>> oh my god. Well, the new season of emily in paris is just i’ll never be like a proper tv critic because because of this conversation. The new season of emily in paris is coming to netflix december 18th. I mean, i of course won’t be watching it to the 25th, so we’ll still do some content before then. It’s fine.
>> so, lily allen is coming out with a brand new album tomorrow. >> yeah, i know. >> and i feel like every millennial and jenzy girl have been seeing it everywhere, but mainly because she’s been doing a lot of press for it. >> and also, lily ellen was such an important part of like our teenage years and maybe your bit younger, like your primary school years, teenage years, uni years.
and i’ve seen so many elder millennials just posting like the promo for her new album saying, “this is my life of a showgirl.” like, “this is it for me. I’m that excited.” >> and i remember like even when um game of thrones happened, everyone was so excited because lily allen’s brother was going to be in it. >> and remember he said to her, “can you stop giving interviews about me being on the show?” and i was like, “let her speak.
>> let her speak. Lily allen deserves it.” so she recently did an interview with perfect magazine. And in the interview, she’s talking about the album, and she’s really not holding back any details on what this album is about. She was talking about her separation with david harour.
we know that they were married for a bit. They dated for a very, very long time. She’s 40, he’s 50. Um, and she has like two teenage kids as well. She said in the interview, “two people who are once together are not together.” and that’s really sad. It’s hard for me not to have my person, you know. She also told british vogue that she had to check herself into a trauma clinic during the divorce.
and when she was making the album, she said that she created it in december last year as a method to process the events unfolding in her life. She said, “i felt confusion, sadness, grief, and a sense of helplessness.” >> so, she’s really, really going through it. But there’s also one other thing she said in the interview with perfect magazine, cuz now she started to date and stuff.
she said, “the dating scene is much harder as a 40year-old woman with two teenage children than it is for a 34y old woman.” thoughts on that? >> um, i didn’t put this in our ideas chat or send it to you, which i normally send you a whole bunch of stuff that i want to talk about because when i saw that, i was just so traumatized from it that i just i just blanked it.
i don’t have kids, but in a few years, i will be in my 40s and um the way things are going, i’ll probably still be dating then. And so that just when she was like, “it’s impossible to date in your 40s.” that just filled me with such a cold sense of dread that i just couldn’t like i couldn’t deal with it that i just put it away.
>> she it’s i’m hoping to make you feel better about this. >> please do. >> because i feel like the way she’s doing these interviews now, >> it’s so telling that she’s still really really going through the breakup and the divorce. Like she’s really going through it. And i feel like any woman who goes through a really hard breakup it’s they just like look internally and they see everything as being really really hard which you’re allowed to do because everything for you right now is really really hard. I do think when it
Comes to dating especially celebrities they have to be so careful on how they word dating things because dating as a celebrity woman who’s so so famous so so beautiful is so different to dating as an average person. And i think if she said that quote in a way that was internalized, like me dating as a 40-year-old is so different to me dating as a 34y old, that’s perfect to say.
Saying it as a blanket fact, i think is quite harmful because it’s just categorically not true. >> do you think that? And >> i think dating experiences are so so unique. >> no, but you’re still in your 20s. I’m still in my 20s, but even for 34 year olds reading that, i would feel so so bad because i have friends who are in their mid-30s who are really going through the trenches in dating.
and i think reading something like that when you’re not even 40 would just be so so harmful. I feel like >> dating now as a 34 year old is so different to dating as a 34 year old 5 years ago. >> do you think so? >> things are changing. Like i recently talked about chat fishing. Like that’s a whole thing.
people are now using ai to send dating messages. Like, it’s changing. People are the way people see and respect each other is different. Like, ghosting is still so so common to the point where people are now publicly saying it’s okay to ghost. >> i’m sorry. Are you saying dating’s gotten worse? Is that the takeaway from this? >> i’m saying it’s gotten worse.
and i’m saying that >> i thought you going to make me feel better, >> but i’m no, i’m saying like it’s hard for everyone. I don’t think you can like put an age on it. And i don’t think you can put a life stage on it. I feel like there are some women i know who are divorced with kids and they’re having a great time dating because they’re also dating other divorces with kids and it’s working out really well for them.
>> i know that’s when i slept from lily allen. I was like i also felt like a little annoyed at her even though i know she’s been through a lot of trauma which we’re about to get to because i was like you’re a famous eventually beautiful woman >> and also you’ve kind of like you’re probably dating other people who have left a marriage or have kids and maybe i’m projecting on her but i’m also like that puts you in the st same life stage as all these people that you’re dating whereas i think no one kind of talks
About the other hard hard side of it that if you’re approaching your 40s and you haven’t been married you don’t have kids do people then think there’s something wrong with you. You kind of have that camaraderie of like, yeah, we’ll get our kids together. It’s more so like, why don’t you have that? It’s weird that you’re still dating kind of thing.
so, i know it’s >> even saying that it’s not that hard for you because at least you don’t have kids. >> yeah. >> which i’m like, that’s not fair. >> i know it’s hard for anyone. >> but i think we have to think about like the trauma that lily ell said that quote in a way of saying it’s hard for me and it just came out as like a blanket statement across dating culture in general.
>> yeah. Cuz she’s had it she’s spoken a lot over the years about she’s had a lot of like really tumultuous relationships. She’s been cheated on by partners before. She’s been in like, you know, in her words like emotionally abusive relationships. When she married her first, i think it was her first husband.
Um he was kind of like a normie and everyone’s like, “oh, she’s a wild child performer from like a famous, you know, family and he’s um this like normal guy and he’s going to save her.” and they had those two kids together, ethel and marty, and they lived in a farmhouse and she was like, “i just go out and feed the chickens and that’s all i do.
” oh, like lily allen. I mean, i feel like there’d be a lot of my stairs, so it’s not my dream, but everyone’s like, lily allen has been saved. And then when that relationship broke up, it’s like everyone was like waiting for her to meet someone. And then when she and david harour started dating, so like actor from stranger things and he’s in the marvel cinematic universe now.
People were really rooting for them. So, they met andrea in 2019 and were instantly very much like we’re each other’s people on red carpets together, you know, all that sort of stuff. They got married in las vegas. Remember that? They she had the beautiful little white mini dress on >> and the photos were so good.
>> the photos are iconic. They got married by an elvis impersonator and then they’re just eating in-n-out burgers and fries like in the street and they’re dancing so happy and like in a little white mini dress and like so happy. And then every time they talked about their relationship, it was just like so beautiful and people got so invested.
When they did that architectural digest spread and their home is like full like >> oh my god oh my god i forgot about that room is crazy maximalist like everyone was like that looks incredible but like how would you ever live in a house >> it’s like an like a gallery like an art studio >> like it’s just so over the top and they were both like lily was like this is what i wanted and david was like yeah whatever she wants like i’m so happy and then when it came out that they were breaking up there were all these
Allegations of cheating rumors and i don’t like lily ellen has never confirmed this but she’s also never denied it. So >> she has like a um in one of her lyrics it says, “you let me believe it was all in my head and not related to those girls in your bed.” >> yes. >> from her new song, sleepwalking. >> oh my god. Okay.
that ties into the story that’s out there that again she has never said is not true. Um and it was uncovered by >> she’s neither confirmed nor denied. >> yeah, exactly. And i wonder if at some point she’ll kind of be like, “yeah, the story is true.” so the story goes that was unearthed by a few gossip sides that lily ellen started to feel like david was acting a bit strange and a bit distant and he again kept saying to her like no it’s fine like it’s all in your head and then she decided to log back into the rya app where they had met that
They had both said that they had shut down and that meant i’m still on the wait list. >> yeah, >> i wanted to uncover david harour. >> yeah, let us in just to do detective work right. We promise we won’t match with anyone. Um, and then she couldn’t see him on there, so she she changed her settings and she changed it for i think she changed it from like men to women so she could see the women that were connected to him.
i don’t know, there’s something about it and how ray works. And then she found that he still had an active profile >> and oh my god, i have to read you what his bio said cuz people have found this profile. So he had he had changed his picture on rya to like a cartoon. So i don’t think he was like super recognizable >> and so no one could really out him.
>> yeah. And so she found an active profile belonging to him and the bio on it read. >> no, don’t. Am i going to cringe? >> yeah, you’re going to die. >> no. >> the bio read closet nerd that plays tough guys on tv, >> but then she can see he like to get the extra kind of yeah, cuz he obviously plays like tough guys.
>> she feels so uncomfortable. >> isn’t that awful? But then she went she she saw like women that he was potentially matching with onrea. She went to their instagram accounts and his instagram account and saw that they were like linked >> in some way. So then she also then she uncovered that he had been having affairs for months and months and months is how the story goes with multiple women.
>> the audacity >> the absolute audacity of that man >> and to do it so publicly. >> yeah. Cuz then it was such an open thing. Everyone just knew. >> it’s not even a secret affair where he like met like it’s assistant or like someone he worked with. It’s literally he has a public profile on a dating app. He just like jumped back on the apps while like he was promoting all his marvel movies.
>> what the heck? >> and just hooked up with all these women. >> i meant to know how to cheat. >> i know they because they all cheat. That’s what we always hear. It’s like >> we all know you cheat. >> i hear that from every publicist i talk to that every single big actor in hollywood cheats on their wife except robert daddy jr. Apparently.
he’s the only one. I don’t know. That’s >> because he’s been through so much. >> yeah. I’m not laughing at i’m just laughing. This is the situation. Sorry. >> i got real earnest about jun >> all these marvel actors. I love how we’re like, “dating’s fine. What is she even talking about?” then we’re just like, “oh, yeah.
every man cheat.” oh, yeah. So, after that, she talked about the fact that she felt didn’t feel like financially secure. She didn’t feel she didn’t feel mentally secure. Um, all these things like lily allen pretty much then went into a full breakdown. So, just think about that when the new season of stranger things comes out.

>> that did not sound good. Did you think that sounded good? I mean, no, but i i also think that like you’re saying her stage presence is good. >> and also, i think she just jumped on she’s not a professional singer. She’s looking down. >> she just like jumped on the mic to join in, right? >> yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> yeah. Unfortunately for her, it has gone viral. And that is the toll of um inheriting millions from your family is that anything you do gets blasted around the world. >> well, i originally pitched this story because i was like, >> you’re also having second thoughts now. >> i was just like, i watched the video.
i thought the singing was not as bad as what we just heard. I’m so sorry. I thought it was okay. >> i wonder why you were getting really distressed listening to that thing. >> it was more just like i really don’t want her to be a thing in my life. >> oh, >> like i really really don’t like her as a celebrity. >> well, she is about to be in your life a lot more.
>> she pushed that girl to the ground and said, “and you stay there.” and then she and then she got photos taken of herself. Okay, we have to >> that is the worst rumor you’ve ever spread. We have to have some fact in here. So, she was at a debutant ball where she was a debutant allegedly and the video went viral because she walked she didn’t push a girl to the ground.
Emily, that’s the worst thing you’ve ever said. She walked in front of another girl having her photo taken and kind of shimmyed. But she was walking along getting her photo taken. I think she just got over in the moment. >> it wasn’t her turn. >> she just got overcome in the moment. >> it was the other girl’s turn and the other girl didn’t even get a turn.
i know it would be hard enough and also we know that other girls also a billionaire. >> yeah, exactly. That poor billionaire girl. The thing is it’s hard enough probably making your debut with apple martin cuz even though those girls all came from like super rich famous families, it’s like apple was there. >> apple wouldn’t even be the richest one there on the bottom tier.
>> but i think she had the most like well-known family there from like a pop culture sense cuz chris martin was there, gwennneth paltro was there and wife dana was there the famous grandmother. So it was the whole situation. >> holy trinity. >> yeah. But you’re about to be seeing apple martin a lot more because she is starting to do um some, you know, singing and she’s on the red carpet, >> potentially some acting and she’s the face of all these new fashion campaigns.
>> well, i didn’t want to go too hard in on her singing also because i feel like if i went hard in on her singing, then i’d also have to go hard in on moses. >> yeah. >> who’s also a singer. >> what beef have you got with moses? >> allegedly. Well, i think he’s actually a good singer. >> yeah. >> so, i think he’s fine.
and i didn’t want it to sound like i’m only hating on her without hating on the other nepo babies. >> yeah. It’s interesting that all of a sudden apple martin is becoming this big clay. >> i honestly think if that thing didn’t happen at the ball, i’d be so fine with her. >> yeah. And again, you >> there’s something in me like when you watch and we’ll we’ve talked about it before.
all the debutons are taking like turns. They’re being very respectful of each other to taking turns of their photos and it was this girl’s turn and apple martin just slips in right in front of her and hits these crazy poses and everyone claps and it was just a mean girl thing to do and i don’t stand for mean girls. >> i know, but i just think >> and now she’s on stage singing bad.
>> this is like literally the third podcast we’ve had this debate. Out of all the nepo babies i thought were going to become big superstars, i’ve got to say apple martin was not on my list just for so many years. She didn’t go to any of these big events with her famous family. She was never seen on red carpets really.
she was always in the background. She finished high school. She went to university. I think she is doing like acting as part of her university degree, but she had like a private instagram account. She worked at like a clothing store for a really long time. Like you could just go into the clothing store and apple martin would like ring up your t-shirts.

And then all of a sudden, it’s like halfway through uni, she decided that she wants this fame that was her birthright for her. >> but also, maybe her parents were like, you have you can’t do any of this until you’re an adult.
like you’re not going to be a child star. And so maybe now that she’s like a proper adult, now she’s fronting all the big fashion campaigns and she’s going to events and she’s starting to be a singer and she’ll probably be in a like she’ll definitely be in some movies soon. >> no. So um on a pod the other day that you were not here for very sadly, we were talking about her new big vogue cover and she and the journalist and this is the first time she talked about the book one of paltro that was written without her consent by author amy odell and she and the journalist are basically laughing about how terrible it was in this vogue cover story and what a terrible writer amy was
And how she had missed all the big moments. And then recently on her substack and podcast, amy odell um talked about how surprised she was that gwennneth had devoted such a huge portion of her vogue story to talking about amy. And she basically said she proved her point, but she did all this on this is true.
she did prove her point. >> yeah, she did prove a point by a kind of yeah. Amy amy’s like everything i wrote about her in the book she proved by the way she acted in that article. But amy had this conversation on her podcast when she was interviewing lionus karp and joseph martin. Do you know those names? >> no. >> they are the stars and creators of the play gwennneth goes skiing.

Um cuz i think they did find emails where he had been emailing his daughters that he cuz he was like i didn’t know it was gwenneth paltro. I would sue anyone who hit me.
I’m not trying to get money out of her. And i do believe they uncovered emails that he had sent to his children who i do believe had disowned him. >> said gwennneth paltro hit me. >> he’s like i think gwennneth paltro. I met gwennneth paltro. And they were like so you didn’t know it was gwennneth poutro.
and there they asked her what she had suffered because he had he said he had suffered quite a bit. And she’s like he had a lot of injuries. Um and then yeah they asked gwennneth what she had suffered and she said well i lost a day of skiing.
and the worst part of that and the best part is that when the judge ruled in gwennneth paltro’s favor she just did there’s no reaction on her face when you watch the video. There’s just nothing. She just she doesn’t even stand. And she like rises up and she glides away. She floats across the courtroom and then she leans down and whispers in that man’s ear, i wish you well.
