on this new album that she’s about to put out she said it’s so hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously I’ve had moments where I’ve been like what’s the point why do I keep on trying to do this that makes me sad that she said that because I think that she should be taken so much more seriously as an artist because she has given us so so many hits that people just forget about across so many different genres too like she started out doing teen pop rock and then went into more of like a dark pop she’s
done Latin pop K-pop EDM like she’s done so many different genres to the point where people should be like wow her versatility is really unmatched when it comes to pop girls but yeah no she’s lowkey like the silent anchor of pop music for the last decade that honestly goes underappreciated she’s had quite the illustrious career I feel like she could literally win like that icon award at the Billboard Awards or something cuz she’s lowkey been anchoring the pop game since what 2007 Lally when naturally came out since she was like 15 years old
making Bops let’s talk about the Inception of her music career because even Selena Gomez I I do like that Selena has never tried to be something that she is not in the beginning of her career she admitted that the singing career was kind of an accident she didn’t get into this because she had the Deep songwriting skills of like like the Beatles or the talent of MJ she was just like you know Disney kind of thrust me into this Spotlight I gave it a shot and here it is she revealed in an interview that um her singing career was an
accident after she recorded the theme song of Wizards of wiberly Place her bosses at Disney asked if she was interested in recording an album and she said quote I don’t think I’m the best singer but I do know how to tell stories and I love being able to make songs but overall she never meant to have you know like 20 top 10 hits and been be stopping on these [ __ ] ever since so it’s a weird construct that the singer herself doesn’t seem to believe in herself doesn’t seemed to think that she’s ever deserving of a music career and half of
the public only like her because she hates Haley Bieber and the other half of her also don’t think she deserves a music career super interesting because when she was starting her career I mean like you were saying it was very clearly orchestrated by Disney everything that she was doing it’s also interesting how they put her in a band for for some reason like no other Disney girl was in a band but Selena Gomez was in Selena Gomez and the scene so I feel like they saw her as someone different they saw her like as someone that they could do
something unique with so they were like she might not be the best vocalist but we can make her sound good let’s put her with a band and have her do like a different vibe than the other Disney girls yeah it’s we out they did that like she was the maroon she was the Adam Lavine to their Maroon Five like none of we we don’t know other scene members if I walk past the scene on the street I would not know who those people are I’m so sorry to the scene I I wonder if like C was text those guys they seem so much older than her yeah she probably didn’t
even know their names honestly they they would probably like interchange and change out every live performance and we just didn’t notice or care but if I was her I would be like like mad and you know what that video of her crying in her documentary when she was like when am I just going to be enough by myself I always need someone else I was like why is she crying about about Justin like she just had a solo album but actually I’d be pissed if from the GetGo they put me with five old men yeah I’d be like like what she was like
a 15 16y old girl and they were like here you’re in a band while Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato are out having like big solo moments no literally like Miley and Demi could go to these like these parties like solo but Selena always have to trail with the five scene members behind her who she doesn’t even know like she has to go up to people shake their and at parties and be like by the way this is this is my band yeah the scene and it’s like five guys who just look like they just smoked and drank all day and like their favorite hobbi is
playing golf and watching like like poker on TV I remember at the time she did say she was like oh I wanted to be in a band I didn’t want it to just be me but Disney probably forced her to say that no way she wanted to be in the scene and it’s honestly disrespectful cuz I’d be like what about me is not good enough by myself I think it was like a very lacking mindset of Disney probably just cuz they launched two solo artists and you know they didn’t give Selena the musical apparently she was supposed to do Camp Rock mhm I mean I
think she would have ate up cam brck a little more than poot than poot I think so too people would have been like no the songs wouldn’t have been as good but they would have I mean I think they would have I think they would have too and um well I guess Demi and Joe did have the the chemistry I don’t know about Good Chemistry but chemistry enough Demi Lavado was really bringing that extra sauce to the screen if you know what I’m saying um because of what she was doing in her trailer you’re sick what she she admitted it yeah no you’re you’re right
I mean but um no Selena was a great actress at the time too I like she was so deeply loved by all the Disney viewers so I feel like that movie would have been even bigger with her starring in it Demi obviously was like good in it but I think Selena would have been great as well but um lowkey Selena’s show Wizards of wly Place was such a bigger hit than Sunny with chance though yeah um and the uh wizard W plays got their own movie that was so good yeah like the Wizards of wly Place movie was maybe better than Camp Rock one honestly
sometimes I’m like I like Wizards of wly Place more than Hannah Montana like Wizard wly Place was so good and just so iconic so good the brother so hot touch my body please yeah know that c their casting was just like great like they were all like so cute love them the dad too yeah big big Italian sa everyone’s nudes leaked the dad’s yeah no the dad’s nudes leaked mhm who like very like spicy photos of him that’s really insane and I’m GNA go home and screenshot those and stare at them for a long time yeah but um no back to her music career

I think that like from the start her having these big hits definitely made her more loved as an artist but it’s strange because there’s there’s there’s always been these people that have been like Selena’s not a great singer like why are we listening to her music who listens to her music yes and she’s been making these hits from the beginning so yeah there was campaigns back in the day on Twitter and this is why I was confused why everyone was like I hate Selena I hate Selena like why does she have a music career tweet to go viral
all the time of Selena breaking a new record I remember in like her droplet era she was breaking all these streaming records with all these collabs and anytime pop crave or pot base would announce this all the quots would be like I cannot name one person I know who streams her who is streaming her the world we’ll never know it’s a mystery and that’s just so disrepectful and it actually um got her to almost quit music she threatened to quit music in 2016 after her tour when she canceled it saying that basically she just can’t do
this anymore she starting to quit in 2018 I believe u when she wasn’t nominated for a a Grammy that year or the year before she was very upset that she was not nominated for a Grammy um she should have been no as she should have been and I remember there was like a video of her she was going from some building and like running into her car and it was like a Paparazzi thing but one of her fans was like don’t quit music Selena and she like laughed it off and she was like okay fine I won’t or something or it it was like a very like
cutesy like I won’t quit thing but then in 2021 she said the quote um threaten to quit for the third time it’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously I’ve had moments where I’ve been like what’s the point why do I keep doing this I felt like lose you to love me was the best song I’ve ever released and for some people it still wasn’t enough I think there are a lot of people who enjoy my music and for that I’m so thankful and for that I will keep going but I think the next time I do an album it will be
different I want to give it one last try before I maybe retire music and then this year just last month she said I do feel like I only have one more album left in me um and then the host was trying to like reaffirm her and she was like you’re right but I am going to want to chill because she’s tired of doing music and that just makes me so sad that she thinks that she needs to quit because the public doesn’t take her seriously a big reason why people are like oh I will never listen to Selena Gomez is because they think she’s a bad
singer yeah their ears are are like so pristine and high like high class they can only listen to the best singer the world no yeah exactly and I feel like a reason why people say that is because they are so quick to put her up against big vocalists like Miley Demi and Ariana because they’re all categorized within the X acts and Selena is definitely the X act with the least powerful voice but just because it’s not powerful in a sense that she doesn’t do like big high notes you know big like Soulful songs that doesn’t mean her voice can’t do
things and move people Kelly Clarkson said in their interview she was like after Selena was saying that she wasn’t the best singer Kelly was like the best singers aren’t the ones that hit the biggest notes and Kelly Clarkson she hits the big notes you know she was like the best singers are the ones that move you and she was like your music moves people and it really does because her lyrics are great like L you to love me that song obviously moved people she knows how to make deep songs which I like about her yeah I feel bad I feel
like it’s always the the women in pop culture who feel like they are taking up too much space and people are getting annoyed with them like when Margot Robbie was like I’m not going to do a movie for a while after Barbie because everyone’s so tired of me like why do women just feel like they should be ushered out soon so I’m I hope she doesn’t like fall into that trap and usually I’m a Selena Gomez denier like I am kind of a hater I’m a I’m not a selenator I’m a sellah hater um so when I would like when I was like
so against her in 2023 and everyone came up to me and they were like [ __ ] you like we’re on Selena side I was like oh like I thought we all didn’t like her cuz you we all tweeting like she shouldn’t do music anymore she shouldn’t do music but something I’ve always loved about Selena is her music career like her songs are so good like you said she can just tell a story and make you feel something and anytime a Selena Gomez song comes on I like I’m so pissed because I’m like it’s so good yeah she’s just so good but I like that

the smartest move to take but you can’t deny she’s not so genius at picking which songs to put out and I would also say she understands the importance of giving her fans like a um like the ethos of like a message in her song she’s very good at storytelling she gives them a plot to follow along with whereas some people like Demi I would say like the plot is lost like we don’t really get what’s going on there but Selena she’s very consistent in her music and if her personality would like always came across just how it did in the music I

doesn’t matter I’m just going to turn my head when it comes to her Twitter from from now on because truly her songs are just like the best and I wrote that she um she chooses songs with a great Etho she understands the importance of giving her fans a message to follow and she consistently persuades a certain feeling in her music and a certain brand she’s good at branding her career she has a lot of songs about being yourself or being kind songs like naturally who says even going back to the Disney days with
the scene um that have not been seen since rare vulnerable killing with kindness and songs about mental health my mind in me let me get me dance again look at her now yeah honestly rare really showcased her songwriting skills and another point that another thing that haters like to say about Selena is that she doesn’t write her own songs even if people are like this song is this song is so well written I love the lyrics people are so quick to be like she did not write that there’s no way but Julia Michaels went
on Twitter once and was like as someone who has written with Selena countless times I can very much say that Selena is a songwriter wow and just because Selena has these collaborators that she continues to work with like Julia Michaels Justin tranter big songwriters that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t come into the studio with her own stories and her own ideas for the songs and her own lyrics you know yeah and you can tell like you can just tell when an artist has their own kind of like thumb print on their career and artists who don’t
and it’s just about like the consistently the consistency and the undertone in what the common threat of all their songs is and it’s definitely there for her her her music career is definitely like a mural of who she is and it’s always made sense and I will say something else about K Selena is maybe she wouldn’t be able to write these songs by herself like she’s not this whole like t- Swift esque person but she’s very smart at just laying out exactly how she feels for someone we saw this at the end of her documentary when
they wrote my mind in me she’s good at like kind of like like Excavating like her mind and like taking what she’s going through that may be like very specific but then finding like an overall um like generic or not like like that’s not the word like a general story to tell the listeners like I’m sure she was telling her song wrers about her EXA and her depression but then they came up with the course of just like my mind and me we don’t get along sometimes so I feel like she’s just very good at making super easily consumable relatable pop
songs that are written very well and I’ll say she is really smart at choosing her collaborators well Julia Michaels is one of the best songwriters like ever yeah and the fact that Selena was able to like lock her down and be like help me like write these incredible songs and her team is so smart they always choose the best songs the best singles they’re written so well so I think Selena’s just really smart at associating herself with the right people in the industry to help bring her vision to life and I think
it’s the best thing when an artist at her level is able to Showcase a bit of her personal life in their music and with her songs even though she’s not the soul writer on them you can tell that a lot of them are about situations that she has been through yes but not so much that it’s like um like like Shameless like you don’t listen and immediately think oh I’m hearing a story about s and Justin even a song where it’s so obvious like back to you like it took me like a while to be like oh this is clearly about Justin because I was
just like enjoying the song yeah no exactly it takes because of the fact that a lot of those songs are like upbeat it’s easy to listen to it and be like oh this is fun but then once you like sit there and look at the lyrics it’s like damn this must be about Justin or the second verse of back to you I love when she’s like I never regret it if I didn’t say this isn’t what it could be I’m like literally I’m going to drive off a cliff it’s so no literally I would love for her to make an album full of songs like back to you and it ain’t me
yes no speaking of who was back to you a a solo song or was there a feature no it was solo so I I will say Selena when it comes to like her choosing the right team of everyone around her she also chooses the right collaborators the power of a Selena’s collab MH like she was dominating Spotify when Spotify was first like becoming like the mainst streaming platform from 201 2019 with songs like wolves and ite me yeah um her droplet era was insane with streams a lot of people forget that in 2018 Selena Gomez surpassed Drake and became the artist
with the most monthly listeners on Spotify yeah I mean I’m not surprised by that but like that’s lit a lot of people like don’t talk about that and I remember when Pop I remember when Pop crave tweeted it when Pop crave tweeted it so many replies were like who’s listening to Selena Gomez they were so mad that she was the number one artist with the most mon monthly listeners on Spotify literally as if she was JoJo siwa or something like she’s a real [ __ ] artist she’s a real pop star and at the time she had she has hits now but at the
time she was really really popping off with her droplet era yeah with songs like wolves back to you it ain’t me bad liar fetish those songs were so iconic and at that time I feel like it was her experimental era she was doing EDM she was doing dark pop and a bit of um like b i I feel like bad liar is such like a different type of pop song that’s like her most unique pop song yeah it’s it’s like a ripy song yeah exactly so in that era of time she was just doing a lot of different things with her music which I loved her team was so smart for
that too because she did admit she was going through stuff at that time so they were like let’s not overwork her let’s make her do like I don’t know about like make her but like let let’s like have her do one song every few months and there’s no pressure for an album Like These collaborators I’m sure they like had the song yeah you know I’m sure like kind of all like all ready prepared they’re like add your Selena flare to it um so I just think she really is probably the number one best constructed pop star and I say constructed with like
the utmost respect because she’s constructed herself too but I just say constructed in the way where I I think if you objectively looked at her at 16 years old you wouldn’t like Scout her on like The X Factor or something like she has every single thing we need um so I just think she’s her and her team I don’t even know who’s on her team um but they have constructed her better than people with twice the traditional Talent no yeah she and her collaborators know how to make her music sound fantastic yeah absolutely and like you you said
like her vocals are much better than people give her the credit for she’s not an Addison Ray type singer that’s what people annoy me about like just I think just because they’re like oh she was on Disney she just waltzed into the the music career uh she didn’t really have to like break down any doors it was handed to her as kind of like similar to the Tik tokers that we see now they just get to make a song cuz they have Cloud but like it wasn’t like that she was casted on Disney I’m sure they made her sing in
her wizards of w Really Place audition I can’t imagine Disney not seeing if she can sing or not so I think she was casted as a triple threat um and she can hit like octaves like I don’t think people get like autotune can’t it’s not like a miracle worker you know what I’m saying she has to actually get in the studio make love to the mic yeah like do her sensual soft um whisper vocals and she’s so amazing amazing at it and like you were saying like Demi Demetria is like belting all the time like screaming Miley Cyrus is like like putting her
like weed voice in to the mic Selena just offers something really smooth and easy and nothing is hard about listening to Selena Gomez song there’s some Prestige songs like who who is a Prestige artist who their songs are like such a metaphor I don’t even get what the [ __ ] they’re saying like I don’t know but she just makes it so easy like Lana Del R sometimes I’m like what is she saying yes thank you Lana Del mother [ __ ] Ray Selena is like listening to pop on easy mode exactly and that’s great though because I think a great pop song
is a song that you can easily sing easily Yeah because sometimes I’ll be listening to Ariana and I just don’t want to listen to one of her songs because I know I won’t be able to sing it yeah and you’re in the mood to sing and I want to sing so when I’m in the mood to put on singing music that I can just yeah I’m just effortlessly like Selena Gomez has the perfect music for you could hit the Ariana nons maybe may you could Bel dangerous woman if you like really tried something by no I feel like if you just that part
is so hard though first and got in that studio by yourself nothing would stop you maybe yeah maybe I’ll try to do that when I record my debut album speaking of drugas drugs some may say Selena Gomez has mined her personal life for the sole purpose very shamelessly at that to boost her music career even Justin has insinuated Justin Bieber thou who thou who shallal not be named we’ll try not to say his name a lot but even he has insinuated that Selena used him for clout do you think Selena knows the importance of mining her
personal life for interest in her music honestly I think she’s just doing what every artist does what most artists do which is put experiences that they’ve gone through in their music it’s not like she I mean she can’t help the fact that she was in a 10 year long relationship with one of the biggest artists in the music industry yeah you know I feel like she would have made these songs regardless of if that person that she went through heartbreak with was Justin Bieber or not or someone else you know no I agree and I think she
learned a lot from Miss Taylor Miss Miss toer yeah um Miss Toller definitely did that a lot with her personal life she would let the public in in a very selectively vulnerable way and give them very obvious hints um about who the song is about just so they will have something to play with and Easter eggs to unravel in their mind and obsess over so I think Selena had really taking notes from her and I think she learned a lot from Taylor but also I don’t think Selena ever made it super obvious up until she released Lou you to love me
because Lzzy love me was very obviously about Justin Bieber you know she was like in two months you replaced us two months after they broke up he was with Haley Bieber yeah that’s a really sad song I feel no yeah so I feel like that was the first time where we were like wow like obviously there were songs in the past that were about him but this one in particular is one where she’s making it complet completely obvious who it’s about yeah and I think there’s no shame in doing that to take your music career to the next level like Taylor
Swift is teasing for her next album All is fair in love and poetry so I think all is fair that’s so true um and I do think it’s important to note that I I think there was some very obvious songs about Justin throughout the whole career like the Heart Wants What It Wants she went on a Ryan C Crush show and she was like yes this is about him and she was talking about how she played it for him and like his reaction and things like that which I think is cool as [ __ ] the fact that they were like let’s just like
they were cool and they like played it to each other which yeah but even that one did did you know that Gwen yeah Gwen Stefani did a demo for that song so it makes me wonder I’m like huh did she actually go into the studio and be like I want to make a song about Justin Bieber when Stefani was the artist who recorded this song before so that’s one that kind of confuses me but I was going to bring that up because like I like when I was saying like her team definitely is really good at choosing which song she wants maybe she doesn’t
write all these songs from scratch but she’s very good at being like I want that song that is my story that’s my story give me that like rare that she based her whole brand on her whole Beauty line was a Madison Beer reject yeah that’s crazy or Madison Beer said she wanted the song but a bigger artist got it like SLO was like M [ __ ] and now we have rare Beauty we have rare the album literally yeah that’s actually crazy so her she’s just really good at like choosing what is for her and being the best constructed pop
star of all time speaking of a constructed pop star she’s she’s very Shameless in the way of she’s not afraid to have a PR relationship to give the full scope of Pop stardom she understands it’s not just in the song yeah it’s in the personal life it’s in the relationship it’s in who am I at the mechal with this year definitely yeah her PR team works over time over time and they’re good CU they have a lot of fires to put out oh absolutely yeah they’re doing their jobs no the amount of fires the Gomez PR team has have to
put out and extinguish yeah by the way I never shade a PR relationship I’m like wow good for them they’re doing it and it’s working for them yeah if the GP if the stands at home like a relationship why would they not yeah like if you guys feed into this [ __ ] and this is what it takes to get my art out here here yeah why not there’s other people twerking with their ass out yeah you know begging for attention in different ways why can’t I just do this no exactly and we’re definitely not talking about Selena and
Justin because that was very clearly a real relationship maybe they were like y’all should meet and you know that that that’d be great if it was PR but it was very much so like obviously real but definitely like Selena and Zay they were never really spotted together in public but there were always so many articles about them and it was just giving that their PR teams were putting that together and Lena and Drew from the chain smokers were hanging out for like two weeks were always they were holding hands holding hands making out in a
bowling alley I’m like okay PR but go off yeah weird I I would not make out with a chain smoker in a bowling alley for any amount of PR if if my song could be number 11 or number one I would still not do PR Worth it at that point I don’t know no um the weekend I don’t know if that was real Charlie pooth I think Charlie thinks it was real he definitely thinks it was real I don’t know if Selena thinks it was was real but but then again we have a massive hit from then we don’t talk anymore song that’s one of the most dreamed songs of all
time yeah that song is so good too and it’s so Eerie that the two people who made the song famously don’t talk anymore mhm and they because because they fight they manifested it yeah oh it’s actually weird to to hear that song yeah that’s another song where you listen to it and you’re like wow it moves you and it’s so easy to sing but it’s so deep too and it’s like a duet like it’s so good I love that song yeah their voices are very like milk uh like milk chocolate and caramel together they’re they’re very good no absolutely um so yeah I think
Justin was also very not holding it back when he was saying songs he wrote about Selena Gomez he said he wrote what do you mean about her sorry and mark my words uh confirmed I’m sure he said more those are just the ones that I saw in whatever YouTube clip I watched but um I also see Selena Gomez act sometimes and I’m like what does she mean like she she’d be saying so many things that I do not know what she means yeah so that that was a actually a very good song about and those were good songs too and something interesting
about that era that Justin was in at the time and the era Selena was in is that Julia Michaels and Justin traner were writing with both of them so so I imagine they were just in the studio getting so much tea from both of them and I bet you they were getting a completely different story from both them yeah no literally from both of their deranged points of VI but personally I mean I think that was Justin’s best ERA with music too so I agree I think Justin was very much so in his bag Julia Michaels is a legend mhm
like the the way she so many big songs yeah she wrote with Sabrina too nonsense she was just she just did the songwriters round table with watch cute little video so good yeah so interesting seeing all of them interact literally like Billy Olivia and da yeah like whoa like do Lea there with the yeah right I don’t know I feel like Selena so the last thing we were talking about like her career is very constructed I feel like she plays into it in the best way but I I do definitely think her PR team has to put out a lot

passionate about music to be honest but then seeing her in this music video I was like wait maybe she does enjoy this yeah it seemed like she was having fun I know when she was teasing this album she was like I’m ready to have fun I’m very excited for this and there was some mixed reaction online but I don’t know if I can just like project what I think artists are about to put out I I was that’s this is exactly what I expected me too she said I’m ready to have fun um I don’t know I think it was a step up from single soon she didn’t want the
slightly depressed Vibes of rare and Revival anymore which I respect and I think I understand why people maybe don’t think it’s like more elevated or sometimes I kind of thought maybe it sounds like someone who’s like at the beginning of their pop career would put out but at the same time she said she simply just wants to have fun there’s no need to give any more than is needed maybe people wanted more details of like her personal life in the song yeah or maybe they wanted some sort of like dig at at someone else or thank you next moment
but I think it was literally just a song about having fun yeah and I think that’s the hard thing is that because of the fact that she has had a lot of songs where you can tell who they’re about or that you know they’re about her personal life that’s what people are expecting from her MH but yeah she has done interviews being like okay this next album there are no sad songs I just want to dance and that’s exactly what this song is giving yeah there was no stunts it was very just like here’s the fun pop song you can consume it if you want to
and don’t if you don’t but I love how Selena kind of finds like the the the middle here you know what like there’s people like Beyonce Who do like house music very in very intense pop or like AA Max like very high budge like crazy crazy production overload pop songs and then there’s people like acoustic very strip down that’s what Taylor was giving on like folklore and Evermore and things of that nature Selena finds the perfect middle ground but I will say something about her the gays do not hyperfixate on her because the gays want one of the

don’t know what I know she said that she wanted to do dance pop for her new album but if there was one sound that you wanted her to do what would it be um I really like the the Storyteller Vibe the like whisper in your ear like confessional back to you um like perfect perfect is so camouflage Vibe like I I like the very subdued Selena she can do pop um I honestly want her to stop working with producers for a while she’s worked with like all of them back when she did like I want you to know with Z like Marsh oh you me like DJs and
