There will be a difference in broadcast for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s final instalment, with an A-list lineup of guests as well as surprises that will run the finale longer than usual.

Beginning Friday, the show’s timeslot will then be filled by Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen, and the 65-year-old anchor has revealed his strict show rule.

He has told how talk of politics will be banned and, during an interview on CBS Mornings, he reiterated: “No. No politics.

“That’s it. You come, you laugh.

“I created the show 20 years ago and we’re about to have our 20th anniversary this fall.

“The 20th anniversary of Comic’s Unleashed, 20 years of laughter”.

He added on Wednesday’s show: “We’ve had on a thousand comedians — every shape and size, you name it.

“I want to bring people together using comedy”.

Viewers will get their final chance to see Stephen at the helm of his show tonight.

Yet anticipation has been building all week.

It is unknown how much longer the finale will be compared to the typical hour-long episodes.

The network has retired the entire Late Show franchise and is not just switching hosts.

More eyes will also be on the finale, since other late-night broadcasts like The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Late Night with Seth Meyers are all going dark.

The final four guests who appeared on the show this week are Jon Stewart, Steven Spielberg, David Byrne, and Bruce Springsteen.

The TV host has also reversed the roles in his fan-favorite “Colbert Questionert,” where he has answered rapid-fire questions from his guests rather than the other way around.

Festivities will then continue long after taping wraps at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City.

According to Variety, Stephen is hosting a celebrity-packed afterparty at a nearby venue, with a “Fired & Festive” dress code.
