  • Joy Behar revealed she will miss several upcoming episodes of The View while traveling to Europe for her stage play
  • The longtime co-host said her play, My First Ex-Husband, is headed to Paris and London following its New York City run
  • Guest co-hosts including Sheryl Underwood, Kara Swisher and Ana Navarro will fill in during Behar’s absence

Joy Behar is stepping away from The View for a few episodes — but she’ll be back soon.

The longtime co-host revealed on the Tuesday, May 26 episode of the show’s Behind the Table companion podcast that she’ll be temporarily absent from the daytime series while traveling to Europe to present her stage play, My First Ex-Husband, to international audiences following its New York City run.

Toward the end of the episode, executive producer Brian Teta brings up that it’s Behar’s last appearance on the podcast for “a little bit,” and that she’ll be away from the show starting next week.

The 83-year-old comedian then explained that she’ll first travel to Paris before heading to London, where the production will continue its run at the Boulevard Theatre in the West End.

“I fly to Paris this week, and then I go take the Chunnel to London after a week, and I’ll be in London a second week doing my play, My First Ex-Husband, at the Boulevard Theatre in the West End,” Behar said. “We have Jackie Hoffman and I [playing] the two American women talking, then we have two British actresses. Doesn’t that sound like fun?”

While Behar is away, several guest co-hosts will help fill her seat at the table.

“We’ve already told people that Sheryl Underwood is coming,” Teta said, noting that Underwood will join for two days while Behar is away. He also revealed that journalist Kara Swisher will join as a guest host, along with Ana Navarro.

Teta also said that Whoopi Goldberg would be appearing on Fridays, which is different from her usual schedule.

“I don’t think she knows yet, but I’ll let her know that she’s going to be here,” Teta joked.

Behar’s temporary hiatus comes after the show navigated several co-host absences over the past several months. Earlier this year, Navarro filled in for Behar during multiple episodes after Goldberg, 70, shared that the comedian was “not feeling well.”

Behar also missed several episodes in November 2025 after injuring her foot.

“Now, I’ve been off for a few days as you might have noticed,” Behar said during a later broadcast while explaining the injury. “Here’s what happened: I dropped my iPad on my foot and I broke my toe.”

She described the injury at the time as “very, very, very painful.”

Behar has been part of The View since the ABC series premiered in 1997. Though she exited the show in 2013, she returned two years later and has remained a co-host ever since.
