(1549) Ariana Grande NEVER Changed, YOU Did – Ty

I’m Glad My mom died. That was the title of former Nickelodeon child actress Janette McCert’s 2022 memoir. You might remember how popular it became a few years back due to its unfiltered honesty about the struggles of abuse, child stardom, eating disorders, controlling parents, and dark humor. In the book, Janette also details her relationship with Ariana Grande and openly discusses her struggles with jealousy and comparison. Ariana had it all.

Was from a wealthy Boca Raton upbringing, had a large, supportive Italian family, was seen as conventionally attractive, vocally gifted, and went on to have a highly successful music career. Ariana would have her first big break on Nickelodeon’s Victorious, where she played a simple-minded side character whose only real role was for comedic relief next to the real star, Victoria Justice.

Despite this, however, she would still quickly become the most popular character, and her vocal talent would often outshine the show’s original lead. The success of Victorious would lead to Ariana being cast in the spin-off series Sam and Cat, where she would first work with Janette Mccertie, and where McCertie would discuss the difficulties of being cast with someone who seemed to have it all.

Except none of that was really ever true. While Janette Mccertie most certainly struggled in ways Ariana Grande would not, they are still far more alike than their differing career paths would suggest. Today, we see post after post about Ariana’s seemingly bizarre behavior, radical changes in appearance, and such a divergence in her previous identities that the Ariana Grande switching races meme has now become a staple in online pop culture.

All we see day in and day out are people wondering why Ariana has changed so much when in reality she hasn’t really changed at all. And anyone who knows her past, how acting can affect personalities, and how child stardom affects development would know that. Today, I want to break down the real reason Ariana Grande seems to have it changed so much.

from her childhood and early career to her ascension to superstardom to her seemingly strange unraveling shocking struggles with mental illness and how once you understand the extreme pressures of Hollywood and especially how those pressures affect young actors, Ariana’s behavior then makes complete sense.

Today’s video is not just about Ariana Grande, Wicked, Cynthia Orivo, or Ethan Slater, but goes far deeper and has more to do with the exploitative child star experience itself. How repeatedly performing external identities at a young age can affect personality, and how fame negatively affects people, as seen with countless other former child stars.

Ariana Grande Boutier was born on June 26th, 1993 in Boca Raton, Florida. She is the daughter of Joan Grande, the Brooklynborn CEO of Host Macccan Communications, a manufacturer of marine communications equipment owned by the Grande family since 1964, and Edward Bouter, a graphic design firm owner in Boca Raton.

Ariana would discover her musical talent as early as 8 years old, singing the Star Spangled Banner at the Florida Panthers home game against the Chicago Blackhawks on January 16th, 2002. And the rockets spread there. The bombs bursting in gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. As a young child, Grande performed with the Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theater, playing her first role as the title character in the musical Annie.

She also performed in their productions of The Wizard of Oz and Beauty and the Beast. When Ariana was 8 years old, she went on a cruise with her family and she sang karaoke while Gloria Estan was in the audience. After the performance, Estfan then told Grande to follow her dreams, which inspired her to pursue singing and acting.

When Ariana was around 13 years old, she and her mother relocated to Los Angeles where she would begin auditioning for several TV roles. When Grande was 16, she landed the role of Cat Valentine on the Nickelodeon show Victorious with her character being cast as quote adorably dim-witted.

; My name’s Cat like the animal. What’s that supposed to mean? ; Nothing. I I love cats. Oh, ; me too. They’re so cute. ; Victorious was a teen sitcom created by Dan Schneider in 2010, which followed the lives of a group of friends who attended Hollywood Arts, a prestigious high school for the performing arts.

Victoria Justice, who plays Tory Vega, was the show’s main lead and was an inspiring singer, which is why the show was titled Victorious. Cat Valentine, played by Ariana, was a side character whose entire personality resembled a small, naive child, and her scenes and lines were often nonsensical or used for pure comedic relief.

; Hey, where’s Cat? ; This role was where Ariana’s alleged obsession with acting like a child truly emerged. A lot of people forget that the current criticisms against her strange childlike behavior go all the way back to this character. And to be fair to her, I don’t think it was really her fault.

For example, Ariana was forced to have red hair for Victorious, which involved bleaching and intense dying every other week. This routine actually got so bad that it severely damaged her hair. And by the time she was cast in Sam and Cat, she was forced to wear a wig. Ariana has also explained how she was pressured to act like the Cat Valentine character on and offset and how that would lead to certain childlike aspects fusing with her actual personality despite wanting to be separated from the character in real life. People liked Cat and they accepted

her and they thought that I was like her. So, I used to pretend to be a little more like her than I actually was. I was like, “Guys, there has to be a really distinct difference between me and my character.” I dyed my hair back to brown. I made the point I wanted to make and I was expected to do so after so many years of pretending to be somebody else in front of a lot of people.

The way executives and society would often try to merge the actor and the character they played is a trend we see with many others but especially child actors from Disney to Nickelodeon. We find that many young actors like Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovado, Zenaia, and Raven Simone were often pressured to play up their character offset because their main audience was children.

And most kids don’t really know the difference between acting in real life. When you factor in the age of these kids when they first started acting, some as young as 13 years old, and how their minds and personalities were still developing, but where they weren’t really able to be themselves, it makes complete sense why some of them then adopted certain aspects of those characters behaviors, whether forcibly or unconsciously.

This is again why I always say when it comes to the appearance or the marketing of a performer in Hollywood, it’s important to keep in mind that so much of what they do, the roles they take, the way they look, or the music they make often has nothing to do with their own desires and is the result of ultra powerful business people behind the scenes whose only focus is ensuring profit and manufacturing a specific marketable image.

Speaking of ultra powerful executives, remember how so many of the shows Dan Schneider created, including Victorious, often had strange, suspicious bits with slime or feet or other questionable things involving child actors. Well, so many people would actually end up lodging complaints against Schneider’s conduct that in March of 2018, Nickelodeon would sever ties with him.

While Dan Schneider alleges that nothing he had ever done was intended to be inappropriate or sexualized minors, many still find it too creepy and there was actually even a documentary made against him. Ariana would respond to all these explosive allegations, saying it was devastating and that she stood with the victims who came forward.

She would also begin re-evaluating her time at Nickelodeon and advocating for structural reforms to the business, including mandatory therapists on set, greater parental access to children, and strong legal protections for child performers. So, this is all to say that when talking about Ariana Grande’s perceived obsession with acting like a child, I think it’s also important to consider the environment she was in and to really have empathy for how difficult it must be navigating adolescence while being a child star and having so much of

the way you express your identity being completely out of your control. But coming back to Victorious, even though this was Ariana’s first real acting gig, and even though they were attempting to market her as nothing more than a comedic side character, she would still surprise everyone and garner a reputation as the most likable standout one, which I personally think has a lot to do with hair theory and how when you have a standout aesthetic feature, people gravitate towards you and helps you develop a recognizable

brand. But anyways, Ariana’s growing popularity is also why we would end up seeing those memes where in past interviews, Victoria Justice seems resentful of Grande since the show’s original purpose was to build a brand for her and make it easier to transition to music. But as we all know, Ariana would take that path instead.

; One thing you don’t know about Ariana Grande is that she literally sings everything. like she’s she’s starting to forget that I talk in her own voice because she sings everything and it’s a good thing cuz she has a beautiful voice but it’s awesome. She sings absolutely everything. She never stops. ; That’s so true. Liz, you sing a lot too.

LIKE ESPECIALLY DURING all ; during this time we would also see this Ariana Grande has it all and is perfect narrative begin to form. We would see multiple other actors in the business talk about Ariana’s talent with singing and how she had it from such a young age, her privileged wealthy upbringing, how beautiful she was, and her connection with some of the biggest stars in Hollywood.

; Let me tell you something. When I went to her 16th birthday party, ; huge birthday party, very dramatic, ; homegirl was on stage singing with Patty Leel. ; All right. Now, ; so she has always been she ladies and gentlemen, Patty Leel. This might sound like a good thing and to a certain extent it obviously is.

I mean, who wouldn’t want to be praised like that? But I think it is also important to remember how young she was during it all and how being labeled as such an overachieving perfect person puts a lot of pressure on someone to be great all the time. And when you combine that with her background in childhood acting may have led her to feel like she needed to perform a certain character 247 to achieve it.

In 2022, Janette Mccertie would release her memoir titled I’m Glad My Die. It caught many people’s attention for its obvious dark humor, but also for its unapologetic honesty about abuse, narcissistic parents, and as an inspiring story of healing from horrific trauma. And I’m pissed at her, jealous of her, for a few reasons. The first is that she had a much easier upbringing than I did.

I grew up in Garbage Grove in a goddamn hoarder house with a cancerous mom who constantly wept about not being able to afford rent and utility bills. Ariana grew up in Boca Raton, Florida, an incredibly wealthy, idyllic town with a healthy mom who could buy her whatever she wanted whenever she wanted.

Gucci bags, fancy vacations, Chanel outfits. I don’t even want Chanel outfits. I don’t like the way the fabric looks. And yet, I’m jealous that she had them. The book would also detail how Janette perceived Ariana and help to further expose the perception of enviable perfection Ariana would go on to represent. ; I was so young at the time and I think it’s really hard to not compare yourself to somebody at that age when you’re in an environment around them all the time.

Um, so I made that mistake repeatedly and I’m glad to be at a place now where I wouldn’t trade positions with somebody. During Ariana’s role as Cat Valentine on Victorious, and due to positive feedback she received from the show, Grande would also begin uploading covers to YouTube, singing songs by Adele, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey.

After the cancellation of Victorious after four seasons, and the 36 episode filming of Sam and Cat with Janette Mccertie ended, Ariana would officially begin transitioning into music. Over the course of two years from 2013 to 2015, we would see her release Yours Truly and My Everything, which debuted to surprising success for such a young artist.

During this early career, we would see the Hollywood marketing machine in full effect, skirting the line between the previous airheaded, high-pitched Cat Valentine character and a maturing poppy but more sexualized sound. ; [cheering] ; This new image and sound would develop further with the release of Dangerous Woman and Sweetener, where we would see Ariana continue to transition to a more R&B like sound and increasingly be marketed towards a more mature adult audience.

But with all this newfound success also came immense, at times unbearable scrutiny, and cracks quickly began to show. In 2015, surveillance footage from a doughnut shop showed Ariana licking donuts and saying, “I hate America.” The video would then go viral on social media and caused significant backlash. It led to her having to issue multiple apologies, including this Good Morning America interview where she was actually crowned the winner of the I don’t give a [ __ ] awards.

; Start though with that video that made headlines earlier this summer. You were in a donut shop. You were in California. You said some hurtful things about Americans and about people’s weight. A lot of people watching felt offended. ; Ariana would also be accused of what literally every female performer ever is accused of as an unserious diva, where she was labeled rude and dismissive to others, which stemmed from the lingering child star innocent image and the expectation that women should consistently accommodate and be

caretakers, which leads to anything less being labeled as mean or [ __ ] Around this time, we would also start seeing Ariana express how tiring the industry can be and her desire to just take a break and relax from it all. Combine the long hours of acting, starting at just 16 years old, then seamlessly transitioning to music and working on multiple projects before releasing her highly successful first two albums and then the endless nitpicking and press critiques.

And we can see how that would be hard on anyone. Just a horrific scene playing out in Manchester, England. an explosion at an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena. ; On May 22nd, 2017, Ariana’s Dangerous Woman Tour concert at Manchester Arena was the target of a suicide bombing. An Islamic extremist motivated by Muslim casualties from US intervention in the Syrian civil war detonated a shrapnel laden homemade bomb as people were leaving the arena.

The Manchester Arena bombing, which occurred at the city room, caused 22 deaths and injured over 8,000 more. Grande suspended the remainder of the tour and held a televised benefit concert, One Love Manchester, on June 4th, helping to raise 23 million to aid the bombing’s victims and affected families.

Ariana would go on to describe how she developed symptoms of PTSD due to the event and how she still carries the weight of the tragedy every day, saying, “You can never fully heal or move on from something like it.” In 2016, Ariana would also begin a relationship with Mac. Miller, which would last 2 years. Most speculated that the end of the relationship was mutual and was likely due to Ariana’s demanding career and lifestyle changes, while others report it was particularly hard on Miller and triggered a period of intense

grief and reflection. Just 4 months later, Mac Miller would tragically pass away due to an accidental drug overdose at just 26 years old. Ariana was publicly devastated, sharing a lengthy emotional post on Instagram and describing Mac as quote, “The kindest, sweetest soul.” To make matters worse, his passing occurred shortly after the Sweetener album release, which was already complex due to the aftermath of the Manchester bombing, intense media scrutiny, and her personal struggles to cope with it all. This public scrutiny

got even worse due to Ariana moving on so quickly to Pete Davidson shortly after her breakup with Mac. Miller, with some even going as far as to blame her for Miller’s overdose, claiming he was so distraught that he began using far heavier than usual to cope. All these factors help to show just how hard it can be to be a public figure and how multiple different controversies, struggles, mental health issues, and tragedies can lead someone to develop behaviors that to us the public would seem strange and easy to critique.

[singing] In 2019, we would see Ariana fully embrace an R&B trap sound with the release of Thank You Next. Thank You Next was primarily a pop R&B and trap album and was often described as Grande’s most personal record up to that point with its lyrical content reflecting on personal flaws, grief, and denial, as well as female independence and self-empowerment.

; I said, “Sing like that little white black girl that you are.” ; Thank you. X is also where we would see an interesting and often criticized evolution of Ariana’s personality and appearance. Ariana would get a dark fake tan, start wearing long dark extensions, and most famously begin using AAV and what some labeled as a black sim.

; Komi, get your ass in here. ; Come on, girl. ; I’m like, [ __ ] that’s my cookie. That’s my juice. Okay, carry on. Thank you. Next, ; on one hand, many people and especially black Americans found this weird and disrespectful since Ariana was originally just a rich white girl from Boca Raton, but has now suddenly adopted this completely new demeanor and was acting in ways she had never done before.

Some viewed this transition as an example of cultural appropriation or black fishing where white Americans will mimic black styles, popularize them in mainstream white spaces, and hence erase the meaning and original black significance of them. There is also the fact that because many of these white people don’t come from traditionally black cultural areas, their attempts at mimicking their dialects and behaviors are then artificially manufactured and exaggerated, which can make them all the more offensive in mere minstrel show or racist caricatures versus authentic

cultural appreciation. White people appropriating black culture is as American as apple pie. from rock, blues, and country to pop, hip-hop, slaying, fashion, hairstyles, and I actually made an entire video on all of that already if you are interested. Now, on the other hand, I think it is also important to recognize the cultural environment Thank You Next was released in.

In the late 2010s, hip-hop had for the first time beat out pop and rock as the most popular genre, and we had basically seen an entire decade where black culture became mainstream. Rap or a pop song with a rap feature dominated the charts. Big butts, plump lips, black hairstyles, and fashion dominated.

Black slaying was once again being appropriated by white America, often incorrectly, and the wealthy businessmen who ran Hollywood were taking note. In other words, I don’t find it unreasonable to think that Ariana’s personality evolution could have been more top down than we think. Again, keeping in mind that a lot of what these artists do is controlled for marketing and profit.

It could have just been that her managers and executives told her to adopt a black scent and lean into black culture to appeal to that audience and play up the trends occurring at that time. We also saw this same thing with Justin Timberlake in the early 2000s and Justin Bieber in the 2010s. when transitioning to a more culturally black sound.

Lean into a culturally black image and personality so that it appears more authentic and so you can maybe appeal to more of that audience. This of course doesn’t make it any less wrong, unfair or racist, but it does mean it may have not all been her choice. There is also the fact that Ariana Grande was an actor who again was trained at a very young age to merge her real life identity with whatever character she was playing.

And I don’t think it’s crazy to assume that that may have affected her musical evolution in marketing as well. Maybe she unconsciously began acting the way she did once her new marketing eras began because she’s a child actor and it can be difficult to turn that part of your brain off when that’s how you’ve been trained to be since you were like 16.

But some took this radical shift in identity even further and assumed something was psychologically wrong with Ariana due to her unusual childhood and began to theorize she had BPD. BPD or borderline personality disorder is a mental illness characterized by chronic instability in the affected individual’s mood, relationships, and sense of identity.

It is believed to be caused by both environmental and genetic factors and can stem from an unstable or traumatic childhood where the victim isn’t able to develop a stable identity or self-image. Some point to Ariana’s rapid changes in identity and such commitment to the changes from her aesthetics and fashion to voice and even skin tone as clear evidence of that.

But it’s obviously also important to clarify that these allegations border on pathizing. And unless we are a licensed therapist who has been seeing Ariana for years, there is no way we can know that. I tend to think that these changes in Ariana’s appearance have more to do with a combination of the previous three reasons I just listed being her background in acting, controlling executives and managers, and how there is a tendency in America to appropriate cultures as styles or costumes that can be disposed of at the drop of a hat. In

early 2022, Ariana Grande met Ethan Slater on the set of Wicked, which was being filmed in the UK. During this time, Ariana was married to Dalton Gomez, a real estate broker, and Ethan was married to Lily Jay, who was his high school sweetheart. While filming on the set, the two were publicly described as friendly but close, but nothing scandalous was really noticed at that time.

Around late February of 2023, Ariana and Dalton would separate quietly, months before it became public. Ethan Slater and his wife Lily would also separate in the spring of 2023 with their divorce being finalized in September of that year. In July of 2023, multiple outlets began reporting that Ariana and Ethan were dating, and backlash quickly ensued.

Ariana was instantly accused of being a home wrecker, being that Ethan and Lily were high school sweethearts and had recently had a newborn a year prior. People also began to speculate that this relationship was born out of an onset affair which disappointed many fans who perceived Ariana as a girl’s girl.

Ethan, who wasn’t really publicly wellknown before this relationship, was then labeled as selfish, opportunistic, and as abandoning his longtime partner and newborn. The public also began to just find Ariana’s choice in dating Ethan weird due to his appearance, personality, and past career playing Spongebob in musicals. I think this was pretty mean and uncalled for, but I also think it has to do with Ariana’s branding, which was built off of black culture and being this edgy, pretty cool girl, and people felt the aesthetic Ethan represented clashed

heavily with it. In other words, it’s just another example of the age of social media overexposure and how we live in such a parasocial dynamic where people do not understand branding and artificial celebrity personas versus the real life person behind the scenes. At the same time all of this was occurring and shortly after the release of Wicked, people also began to take note of Ariana and Cynthia Arivo’s interviews and relationship.

In Wicked, Ariana played Glenda and Cynthia played Alphaba, the two main characters of the film. In late 2024, during the press tour for the film, Ariana and Cynthia sat down with Tracy Gilchrist, who said she was holding space for those who felt seen by the many themes found in the movie. Arivo then became visibly emotional and began to cry, which is when Ariana reached over and held her finger instead of her hand.

This clip instantly went viral and became overly memeified due to the two actors excessively earnest demeanor as if they were both smothering one another and the overall uncomfortable feeling it inspired. It also kind of became a joke about theater kids and was just seen as strange and even surreal on so many levels. This became the first of many viral memes from the press tour with the two seen acting so weird and empathetic toward one another that some even begin to speculate they were dating.

Ariana’s appearance and demeanor also became the subject of curiosity during these memes due to how she was speaking and the changes in her look. This scrutiny of Ariana’s appearance also did not begin with Wicked, but goes all the way back to 2023 after the public was constantly speculating about her weight loss and changes in her personality and speaking voice.

Ariana responded with a 3minute video saying, “It’s not right to speculate about someone’s weight, especially when you don’t know what is going on behind the scenes. ; The body that you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body. I was on a lot of anti-depressants and drinking on them and eating poorly and at the lowest points of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy but that in fact wasn’t my healthy.

You never know what someone is going through. As promotion for Wicked ramped up in 2024, Ariana appeared very blonde, very thin, was speaking in a high-pitched voice, and was using facial expressions that seemed to mirror how a child would act. This led to people comparing Ariana to all her past eras, and the Ariana swapping races meme began to take off again.

Many people found it strange how someone who used to be suspiciously tan, wear dark hair extensions, talk in a lower register black, and make trap pop now looked like a completely different person. To the public, it seems just so weird and even worrying. But this is where I want to take a step back and say I think it makes complete sense and that Ariana is acting how she always did, just under different circumstances.

Ariana’s childlike changes in demeanor, while being labeled as some shocking change, are ironically more like a full circle return to the beginning of her career. As I mentioned earlier, during the Victorious Cat Valentine era, we saw her acting in this same high-pitched performative way on and offset due to the character she was playing.

Like we already touched on, Grande specifically noted that she felt pressured to play up the cat character in real life. And even though she also didn’t publicly say it because if we’re being honest, it would have hurt her career, I think it’s also safe to assume that the Nickelodeon execs were probably encouraging it behind the scenes as well.

Then what did we see during the Thank You Next era? A transition to a more R&B trap pop sound and with it a sudden lower vocal register, black scent, darker hair, and spray tan to match. Ariana has said that to prepare for Wicked, she dived deep into vocal training in preparation for the role of Glenda. It’s reported that Ariana trained daily for 6 months to reshape her vocal placement for Glenda’s soprano role.

The Wicked director also confirmed live vocals were used on set, increasing the physical and technical demands of the role. This is why when watching so many of the promotional interviews between Ariana and Cynthia for Wicked, so many speculated that she was still in character. But it’s also important to note that Ariana herself has explicitly denied claims that she used method acting or that she was completely immersing herself psychologically into the role of Glenda.

She has specifically clarified that the changes were only vocal technique and not due to real life identity or personality changes. And to be fair here, that may be true. But I also want to point out that at this point, Ariana has been consistently scrutinized about her personality, voice, appearance, relationships, literally going as far back as victorious.

So, I mean, it’s not unreasonable to think that she’s maybe absorbing aspects of Glenda unconsciously or intentionally, but that she doesn’t view it that way or want to admit it due to the negative responses she previously received from other past roles. What ties all these changes in her career together, her time as Cat Valentine on Victorious and accompanying childlike persona, her black scent thank you next era, and her pale high-pitched wicked era, is that she is a child actor who learned at a very young age not to be herself, but to be what others wanted

her to be. She grew up in an environment where repeatedly performing external identities for validation was the norm. And so again, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to speculate that immersing herself into a character from all angles, voice, hair, fashion, even skin tone comes naturally and almost without second thought to her.

I mean, this is why I say in my videos all the time that in my opinion, all child acting or singing or performing or whatever it is is unethical because we know that psychologically your childhood is extremely important in terms of developing a healthy personality, learning to form relationships, understanding who you are and your identity and how others perceive you.

And I think when you spend that time constantly performing, it can lead to really interesting, complicated adults. Not saying Ariana is just another troubled former child star, but I mean, does anyone really find it strange how common it is for child stars to end up on drugs or homeless or mentally ill? Like, I think it makes perfect sense when you never had a normal life or truly safe childhood.

We have seen this same thing play out over and over from Michael Jackson to McColen, Amanda Bines, Janette Mccertie, and most recently Ned’s declassified Tyler Chase. The only real former child actor exceptions to this rule are ironically the ones who didn’t go on to have a successful career, who had a strong support system around them, and who often took time off from the demanding job.

; Why quit acting? It was important for my recovery at the time. It represented my mom living vicariously through me. It represented something that my mom wanted that I didn’t want. So, it was important for me to step away in a very definitive way and really just focus on completely on healing myself.

I mean, when you also take into account how much Ariana has been through with Max’s passing, the Manchester bombing, the constant scrutiny that comes with fame, and being in the business for basically half her life at this point, again, does any of this really seem all that shocking? I think we need to stop asking why so many people in Hollywood are crazy or weird and instead start understanding how toxic, controlling, unethical, and horrific the industry must be that so many who go into it end up the way they do. This is why I also said in my past

videos that the Illuminati doesn’t need to exist. We don’t need to make up some elusive, shadowy, satanic cabal that controls celebrities because we already have one out in the open that nobody questions. Look at figures like Harvey Weinstein or Jeffrey Epstein. These people seem to have been known and loved by everyone out in the open.

They did what they did in front of everyone. And nobody batted an eye because of the extreme power dynamics capitalism creates. These people weren’t supernatural demons. They were just humans with immense unchecked wealth and power which allowed them to do whatever they please to whomever they wanted. In other words, it’s the wealthy business executives, managers, and even opportunistic parents who help create the victims we keep seeing churned out of Hollywood and exploitative industries like it. Ariana is in some ways the

perfect product of the child star dynamic. Someone who learned at an early age not to really be herself, but to be what the business execs and audience wanted and therefore mastered the art of identity transformation on demand. In some ways, this also reminds me of Ice Spice and the rise of what I call the blank slate celebrity or the nonchalant celebrity who seems stoic, non-reactive, even without a personality, but in a very intentional way.

Ice Spice represents a new generation of artists in the future of marketing. Someone who is so nonchalant that many find her boring, but that paradoxically makes her all the more popular. Someone whose lyrics and vocal affect are as simple and monotone as possible to appeal to everyone. someone that is a blank slate product we can all project an idealized personalized fantasy onto and who can become whoever the business execs want.

But I also want to save that deep dive for another video. So subscribe if that sounds like something you’d be interested in. All I want to say is I think we should have more empathy for what these people go through and recognize that so much of what they do is out of their control and that the only reason they really end up in the situations they do is because of the lie of the Hollywood dream and how it manipulates vulnerable people to think that being famous is easy, fun or fulfilling. Fame is unnatural, soul

crushing and isolating. And I think today more than ever, everyone seems to finally be understanding that. But what do you guys think? Why do you think Ariana acts the way she does now? And what do you think I may have missed in this video? Let me know in the comments and subscribe if you haven’t already because I have a lot of other exciting projects planned for this year.

And I hope you all enjoyed this video.
